Section 2: Volunteer Driving Procedures

  1. SAFETY PROCEDURES

Your safety is our primary concern (we are called Safe Ride after all).  We want to be absolutely sure that while you are out saving lives, that you are not putting you yourself in danger, or others.  Hence, we expect all volunteers to arrive on site prepared to operate motor vehicles, particularly vehicles that they have never driven previously.  They must also be of sound mind, which includes the refraining of arriving to volunteer while under the influence of any mental-impairing substances, be it alcohol, narcotics, prescription medications, or otherwise.

  1. PERSONAL VEHICLE INSURANCE

Volunteer agrees to supply the Organization with proof of any vehicle insurance status required to perform the Scope of Work in their own personal vehicles. Vehicle insurance must remain current during the time of employment.  Any vehicular accidents occurring during the time of operations are the responsibility of the Volunteer if under the operation of the Volunteer’s owned vehicle.

  1. VOLUNTEER INSURANCE POLICIES

Volunteer will be operating the vehicles of clients.  Hence, they agree that in the event of a vehicular accident (at the fault of the Volunteer) that results in an insurance claim by the client being file, Volunteer may in select cases be held partially or even fully liable for accident. Client (customer) understands that their personal auto policy is the primary insurance policy within the claim.  Volunteer has the right to carry a non-owned hired vehicle auto liability policy to further protect the Volunteer from vehicular insurance claims made by the client and other third parties.

Volunteer agrees to immediately report any vehicular accidents occurred during the time of duties performed, be it within their owned vehicles, or the vehicle of a client or customer. As stated in section 3, in the event of an accident (at the fault of the Volunteer) that results in an insurance claim by the client or third party, client understands that their personal auto policy is the primary insurance policy within the claim.  The Volunteer must then be forthright with the organization in regards to the nature of the accident.
